Who this work enables

Tools & support for charities: Shared aid-information software, data-use methods and implementation support can help public-interest partners avoid rebuilding common institutional data infrastructure.

Open-source evidence · license checked

  • Aid Management Program — GPL-3.0 license file. Organization’s role: maintainer.
Inspected AMP’s GPL text and README describing Development Gateway’s software, training and policy-support role. Humanity’s Checklist source match

Coordination · Gatekeepers — editorial, partial alignment.

Shared development information can reduce coordination failures and gatekeeping around institutional data. This partial mapping does not establish equitable budgets, causal aid effectiveness or affected-community authority.

Explicit checklist adoption: not verified. A mechanism match is not an affiliation, endorsement, evidence of effectiveness or a scoring bonus. Read the practice.

The proposed pathway

Make institutional development-data use easier through shared tools and capacity

Six dimensions, with rationale

Structural depth

3 / 4

Shared development-data systems and uptake capacity can alter institutional information and resource-allocation routines, rather than fund only individual reporting tasks.

Institutional reach

4 / 4

Common tools can support governments, development partners and public-interest institutions across several sectors.

Durability

2 / 4

Reusable software and institutional knowledge can persist, while data updates, training, budgets and local ownership require ongoing support.

Scalability

3 / 4

Shared code and implementation methods reduce duplicated development, but trusted data, policy context and organizational change still require local work.

Funding additionality

Unreviewed

No current costed marginal funding bottleneck or counterfactual contribution relative to direct institutional capacity investments was audited.

Community agency

Unreviewed

Country ownership language and partner consultation do not establish affected communities’ binding authority over aid data, budgets or platform governance.

A testable next question

Do comparable development institutions adopting supported AMP tools and data-use practice allocate resources more transparently and usefully than existing systems, without increasing sensitive-data exposure, reporting burden or platform dependency?

Review confidence: Moderate for documented design; low for systemic attribution. Development Gateway’s nonprofit data-system and implementation role as an IREX subsidiary, with AMP as the named example; distinct from IREX’s existing media-literacy profile and not an additive whole-group impact claim.

What remains uncertain

The financial page identifies a US 501(c)(3); the current brand is an IREX venture, with the subsidiary relationship documented in IREX’s dated report. The existing IREX assessment is scoped to media literacy, not this platform or the entire group, so outcomes are not added together. GPL-3.0 for AMP does not settle datasets, dependencies or hosted-service conditions. Reported country counts and better dashboards are not causal evidence of more effective aid. Sensitive data, political misuse, exclusion, interoperability and maintenance need separate review; financial disclosures were not audited.
