Multisolving Institute (NVF-sponsored)

Multisolving Institute is a current New Venture Fund project. It shares training and the FLOWER reflection tool to help groups consider climate, health, equity and other benefits together; co-benefits remain hypotheses to test.

Who this work enables

Tools & support for charities: FLOWER and facilitator learning provide a reusable paper or online process for groups to examine co-benefits, participation and distributional trade-offs across sectors.

Humanity’s Checklist source match

Vision · Coordination — editorial, partial alignment.

Shared reflection on possible cross-sector futures connects partially to Vision, while group facilitation addresses Coordination. The mapping does not verify co-benefits, agency or adoption of the checklist.

Explicit checklist adoption: not verified. A mechanism match is not an affiliation, endorsement, evidence of effectiveness or a scoring bonus. Read the practice.

The proposed pathway

Help groups design and examine cross-sector co-benefits

Six dimensions, with rationale

Structural depth

3 / 4

Cross-sector reflection and capacity building can change institutional planning habits and reveal linked effects rather than treat every need in isolation.

Institutional reach

3 / 4

The framework can support groups across climate, health, equity and community planning, though actual institutional reach was not independently measured.

Durability

2 / 4

Reusable reflection materials and learned planning routines can persist, but facilitation, evidence updates and implementation need ongoing support.

Scalability

3 / 4

Paper and online formats permit reuse in different settings; skilled facilitation, locally credible evidence and trade-off resolution remain constraints.

Funding additionality

Unreviewed

No current costed marginal training or tool-development bottleneck, alternative support or funding counterfactual for the sponsored project was audited.

Community agency

Unreviewed

FLOWER asks who should participate and how burdens and benefits should be shared; asking these questions does not establish binding affected-community decision rights.

Evidence and selection

Illustrative inclusion to examine this mechanism. Inclusion is not an external recommendation or a verified comparative ranking.

A testable next question

Do teams using a defined FLOWER process identify and implement more independently verified cross-sector benefits, with fewer shifted burdens, than comparable planning teams after accounting for facilitation costs and pre-existing collaboration?

Review confidence: Moderate for documented design; low for systemic attribution. Multisolving Institute’s current NVF-sponsored cross-sector training and FLOWER practice. Its origins within Climate Interactive are historical, not a second claim on that project’s current climate-simulation or SDEverywhere work.

What remains uncertain

The current privacy policy and NVF’s October 2026 report identify Multisolving Institute as an NVF project, not an independent incorporated charity. The 2022 launch distinguishes its current program from earlier Climate Interactive origins; neither historical shared work nor all NVF activity is scored twice. FLOWER means Facilitating Long-term, Whole-system, Equity-based Reflection. A reflection diagram, downloadable materials and an online app do not establish an inspected open-source software license, so no code badge is assigned. Co-benefits may conflict or fail to materialize; testimonials and tool use are not causal evidence of equitable outcomes, validated models or implemented policy.
